The story of Wild Mango Designs – furniture, bohemian style and handmade unique pieces
Our journey began about six years ago when we devoted ourselves to the passion of buying and restoring antique furniture and handmade unique pieces for our own use. From rustic dining tables to charming chests of drawers , we breathed new life into old pieces. When we moved or no longer needed the furniture, it quickly found new owners thanks to its uniqueness.
In 2017 we went on an adventurous motorcycle trip through India - an experience that left a lasting impression on us. In the country's bustling bazaars and small workshops we discovered the timeless beauty of the Bohemian style : a mixture of warm colors, natural materials and detailed design. We fell in love with the artistic wooden furniture and handmade home accessories that told of the history and culture of India.
When we were furnishing our new home in Rüschlikon in 2019, we noticed how difficult it was to find high-quality boho-style furniture in Switzerland. We saw the potential of importing unique furniture and home accessories directly from India. Our first attempt started with a small 20-foot container full of carefully selected pieces.
We selected the most beautiful solid wood furniture for our home - including hand-carved tables , cabinets and shelves - and sold the rest. With no time pressure and free storage, the sale was easy. But when our son Felix was born, we decided to take a break.
At the beginning of 2023, we resumed our project with fresh energy. This time we wanted to approach it more professionally: We ordered a large 60m³ container full of handmade boho furniture , rented a warehouse in Adliswil and set up our online shop . It was important to us that our brand Wild Mango Designs stands for high-quality furniture from India , the unmistakable boho chic and sustainable craftsmanship.
After four months of waiting, the new container finally arrived in August 2023. Two intensive days were needed to store the unique sideboards , coffee tables , chairs and home accessories . But the effort was worth it: Sales really started in October 2023 and our customers were enthusiastic about the quality and style of our furniture.
In parallel to Wild Mango Designs, I continue to work as an engineer , and our daughter Alina was born in November 2023. With two children, a household, full-time jobs, and our growing furniture business, our everyday life is challenging but incredibly fulfilling.
2024 is a year of growth: Wild Mango Designs has established itself as a provider of high-quality boho furniture and handmade home accessories in Switzerland. Our customers appreciate the combination of timeless design, sustainable materials and the individual story that each piece tells.
Our furniture is more than just furnishings. It is an expression of personality, craftsmanship and sustainability.
